About the Artists

While my dad was a gifted artist who encouraged me to see the world through a different lens, it was my mom, a fellow creative, who first placed a camera in my hands. With their combined spark of inspiration, photography became my expressive language. The legacy runs deep. Two of my sisters and their children have the art bug, too. One even pursued an art degree in college. Today, GKW Studios represents the modern evolution of my family's creative spirit, honoring the legacy left by my dad, Georg. My background as an educator has shaped my approach to the craft. Patience, curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to connect with and support the comfort of people of all personalities and backgrounds are essential skills I bring to every session. Whether coaxing a reserved teen, guiding a high-energy toddler, or capturing the quiet dignity of a senior pet, my primary goal is to create a calm, welcoming space where everyone feels free to be themselves. I believe the best images happen naturally. I'm drawn to the dynamics that make a family unique, the subtle expressions that reveal character and the small, quiet details that tell a larger story. Thorough preparation makes all the difference. I collaborate with you as closely as you wish on locations, lighting, and styling so you can step in front of the camera feeling prepared, confident, and completely at ease.
